The 300km Jiri-gil

Hike Korea is investigating a 300km circuit walk proposed for completion in 2012 by the Korea Forest Service. This walk will be a great way for long distance walkers to use the trail to circumnavigate the park and its rural attractions - or to use it to help them traverse over and around the park. More to Come!

Jiri-san (exquisite wisdom) is Korea's first and largest National Park. A large system of peaks and valleys dotted with a mixture of religious spiritual sites, Jiri-san is considered to be one of South Korea's most sacred mountain areas. Its highest peak Cheonghwang-bong (1915m) is the start or end point to Korea's 1400km Baekdu-daegan of which 735kms of it is hikeable in South Korea. Situated in the southern provinces of Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do, Jiri-san is away from the rat-race of modern day life and a splendid rural landscape of traditional village life and mountain worship. A real good place to get lost in.

Hike Korea is looking at walking this circuit ahead of completion, real soon!
