Deogyusan National Park is a long narrow spine of the Baekdu Daegan mountain system. This overnight ridge hike is probably one of the best hikes you can do in Korea. The views are grand.

Hikers should have moderate fitness. The first day is a 8 to 12hr hike. A steep rocky trail.

Trail: We hike a rising ridge to the horn peaks of Seobong 1492m and Namdeogyusan 1507m, that fill the horizon for most of the day.

Once arriving at these peaks we get long views north of the bony spine (Baekdu-daegan) of Deogyusan.

The first night will be spent in Satgatjae shelter. We can cook and eat dinner.

National Park shelters require reservation. They are clean, manned facilities. They are central heated. There are no showers. You sleep in an allocated spot.

On the second day we continue north on the spine, enjoying remarkable views east and west.

There is not set exit strategy for day two. There are several ways to get off the ridge and back to the vehicle via taxi.

I will supply the trail meals and cooking gear (pots and gas). I will also have some plates and bowls to eat from.

Please bring your own eating utensils and mug.

Accommodation options for pre and post hike: Jeonju (KTX), Jangsu, Jinan, Geochang & Hamyang. 

Day 1: Meet early in Jeonju, Jollabukdo. Drive to Yukshipryeong (1hr) Start hike. Stay at Satgatjae shelter.

Day 2: Continue on ridge. Exit at one of several trails off the ridge. Taxi back to vehicle. Drop off in Jeonju (KTX) or another location.
