영 Located only an hour north of Korea’s second largest city Busan is the Yeongnam Alps. Famous for its reed trails that stretch across its main ridge above one of Koreas three jewel temples, Tongdo-sa, its total area is about 255㎢. It forms part of the Taebaek-sanmaek range, the main eastern ridge of the peninsula. Its highest peak is Gaji-san 1241m, one of many over 1000m. The picturesque park contains several trails allowing hikers to roam its peaks and ridges as day hikes or overnight jaunts. This hike offers us the opportunity to sleep out on the ridge in our tents or make our way to a valley and sleepover in a country homestay before continuing the next day.
